Call me stupid

Ikuko and I got locked out of our apartment tonight. I had locked the door before going outside, and as soon as I closed the door, I realized my mistake. It was around 8:30 p.m., so there was no one at the office to help us. I ended up leaving a message, hoping that someone would be paged and come to our rescue. We hung around at my next-door friend's place for a while until someone called my phone and came to unlock the door for us. It cost us $25 because the job was off-hours.

The kicker is that I found my key in one of my pockets later on. I had wasted $25 and valuable time just because I did not think of checking my pockets. Boy, do I feel stupid tonight!

Remember, next time you get locked out, please check your pockets at least. You might miraculously find your key.
